» SVMS Martin Foray 2009
Interesting start to the foray. When I went to back out of my drive, my trucks brake line exploded. Fortunately Kenny brought his 4x4, and I was able to coax it up my hill.
Many large clusters of Black Trumpets were found.
The forayers worked the patches carefully.
While we did not find as many bolets as usual for this foray, the finds provided lots to talk about.
Linda and Pam did a great job running down the finds.
We even brought ammonia to test reactions, but the bolets hid well this year.
So many Black Trumpets were found that people could take pounds of them home.
Kenny pitches in.
Luckily all the preparation for rain during the event, was not needed.
Of course being the Martin Foray, there was tons of food. Ken brought a Coffee-Black trumpet crusted smoked pork roast, Thea brought Tabuli, Gil a Knuckle and a spaghetti salad mushroom medley, Roger, well his wine of course!
And the Sweeneys brought Raspberry jello pie with graham cracker crust.
Of course I made mushroom straws. We also had two type of perogies, one with chanterelles and roasted garlic and the others with grifola and a savory potato paste.
For those not mushroom oriented, we also had spicy oriental flavored "Wonderful Chicken Taste" tacos. Of course we cooked up a big pan of Black Trumpets.
